To that end, we are looking for a US Government Affairs representative, to build and maintain strong relationships with all relevant government, industry and professional bodies to achieve our policy and political goals in relation to healthcare.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic vision, leadership, and expertise in developing and executing programs for achieving policy and political goals in relation to healthcare.
  • Lead efforts to create and sustain strategic partnerships and coalitions with highly complex governmental stakeholders, including across Congress, the Administration, CMS, and other relevant agencies, to significantly advance Microsoft’s policy, business, and political objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all relevant non-governmental industry and professional bodies.
  • Monitor and analyze public policy and CMS regulations, guidelines, and payment policies to assess their impact on the company’s efforts in healthcare, and provide internal strategic guidance as a result. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, compliance, product development and research, to ensure alignment between advocacy efforts and the company’s priorities and goals.
  • By design, we are a lean team (albeit within a much larger organization), and as such you will need to be action orientated, self-sufficient and actively help to cultivate and promote a positive team culture.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Technology, Law, Liberal Arts, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years work experience developing and leading government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, government, or a related area within the US healthcare sector at a national level.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Established network of trusted contacts within government agencies, legislative bodies, and industry groups.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Technology, Law, Liberal Arts, Engineering, or related field AND 15+ years work experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, government, or related area
  • OR equivalent experience 
  • 8+ years experience in developing and managing strategic relationships to advocate and influence public, regulatory, and technology policy priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with an established network of contacts within CMS, including a strong understanding of Medicare and Medicaid policies, decision-making processes and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of public opinion and organized engagement to influence the political process. This includes skill in writing political communication materials and lobbying to compel or persuade key constituencies and elected officials to take action on behalf of the company.
  • Experience representing regulated medical devices.
  • Strong command of healthcare policy and exceptional communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex policy issues.
  • Excellent negotiation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Government Affairs IC6 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $154,500 – $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $199,600 – $299,400 per year.
