MAI is responsible for Microsoft’s consumer products including Copilot, Bing, MSN, Microsoft Advertising, and Edge, as well as developing proprietary foundational AI models.  MAI works closely with a variety of teams across Microsoft and across the full AI stack to deliver on Microsoft’s AI ambitions.

We’re on the lookout for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Program Manager to help bring our vision to life as we build the next wave of AI capabilities of our personal AI, Copilot. We’re looking for someone with an abundance of positive energy, empathy, and kindness, in addition to being highly effective. The right candidate takes the initiative and enjoys finding paths through complexity in a fast-paced environment.   Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It will be your job to enable functions and drive execution.

Responsibilities

  • Leads complex, cross-functional program portfolios with full accountability for strategic planning, drive execution velocity, risk mitigation, and delivery across multiple teams globally. 

  • Leverage data and analytics to identify opportunities for improvement, track progress, and measure the impact of quality and efficiency programs on key metrics. 

  • Fosters a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and growth. Accountable to own the status of key projects, proactively identifying risks and proposing solutions to ensure timely delivery.

  • Champion a culture of operational excellence, agility, and inclusion, mentoring team members and influencing cross-functional leaders.

  • Defines program vision, success metrics, and operational frameworks, ensuring alignment with business objectives, technical constraints, and organizational priorities.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering collaboration, empathy, and respect to achieve business goals.

  • Translate ambiguous business goals into clear deliverables and repeatable workflows, managing trade-offs, between speed, scope, and quality.

  • Communicate program vision and updates to executive leadership, identifying risks early and providing clear recommendations for decision-making.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Product, or related field AND 4+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement.
OR equivalent experience.

  • 8–10 years of experience in program or technical program management in a product-led technology company.

  • Proven success leading large, complex, cross-functional programs with high visibility and business impact.

  • Strong analytical skills with comfort in making decisions based on data-driven insights.

  • Experience managing across engineering and product functions, and dependent teams with a track record of influencing without authority.

  • Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex ideas for leadership audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Product, or related field AND 6+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
OR equivalent experience.

  • 10-12 years of experience in program or technical program management in a product-led technology company.

  • Proven success leading large, complex, cross-functional programs with high visibility and business impact.

  • Strong analytical skills with comfort in making decisions based on data-driven insights.

  • Experience managing across engineering and product functions, and dependent teams with a track record of influencing without authority.

  • Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex ideas for leadership audiences.

Business Program Management IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 – $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 – $206,400 per year.
