Overview

We are Bing Multimedia, delivering high‑quality image, video, and generative AI media experiences for millions of customers around the world every day. We are seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM), to lead cross‑organizational initiatives within Bing Multimedia at the intersection of data platforms, metrics, analytics, and multimedia product execution, leveraging AI tools to accelerate insight generation, decision‑making, and operational effectiveness.

This role operates at principal scope and impact. The TPM will own the end‑to‑end management of metrics, analysis, and insight generation across the organization, including defining and building new metrics, evolving measurement frameworks, and developing a deep understanding of the business as a whole. The role drives meaningful impact by identifying opportunities through data and translating them into action across teams. As part of this work, the TPM is expected to use AI‑enabled tools to operationalize key aspects of the role, which may include building internal applications, agents, or automated processes that scale analysis, streamline workflows, and improve the quality and speed of execution—without owning model development or research.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

Responsibilities
  • Metrics Access, Accuracy & Operational Stewardship
    • Work across Bing Multimedia to ensure clear, consistent access to key metrics, including product performance, quality, usage, and business outcomes.
    • Partner with product, engineering, and data teams to ensure metrics are accurate, up‑to‑date, and surfaced in the appropriate dashboards and reporting tools.
    • Act as a steward for metric quality by proactively identifying data inconsistencies, gaps, or anomalies, and working with the appropriate owners to resolve issues before they impact decision‑making or leadership reporting.
    • Ensure leadership can trust the data presented by driving consistency, clarity, and rigor across dashboards, reports, and business reviews.
  • Analytical Problem Solving & Insight Enablement
    • Ask the right questions when data does not look correct or align with expectations, and lead efforts to understand why—including root‑cause analysis across data pipelines, definitions, or upstream systems.
    • Translate complex or ambiguous data issues into clear problem statements, working collaboratively with teams to diagnose and address underlying causes.
    • Enable high‑quality insight generation by ensuring metrics and datasets are reliable, well‑understood, and fit for purpose.
    • Synthesize data into clear, decision‑ready insights, helping leaders understand not just what the data shows, but why it matters.

  • Opportunity Identification & Business Impact
    • Use metrics and analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across Bing Multimedia.
    • Partner with product, engineering and business leaders to align on priorities and drive action based on insights surfaced through data.
    • Ensure insights lead to follow‑through and measurable business impact, not just reporting.

  • AI‑Enabled Tooling, Automation & Workflow Improvement
    • Leverage AI‑enabled tools to operationalize and scale analytics, reporting, and insight generation.
    • Build or prototype internal applications, agents, or automated processes that improve metric accessibility, streamline workflows, and reduce manual effort.
    • Continuously identify opportunities to improve the quality, speed, and reliability of analysis and reporting through automation and AI‑assisted workflows.

  • Technical Program Leadership & Cross‑Organizational Execution
    • Lead technically complex, cross‑organizational initiatives related to metrics, reporting, and analytics enablement.
    • Drive alignment in ambiguous problem spaces by clearly communicating goals, success criteria, dependencies, and risks.
    • Influence without authority through solid communication, judgment, and collaboration, ensuring issues are surfaced early and addressed effectively.

  • Vendor & Partner Collaboration
    • Manage a set of external vendors to support metrics, analytics, reporting, or tooling efforts as appropriate.
    • Provide clear direction and context to vendors, ensuring their work meets internal quality standards and integrates seamlessly with existing dashboards and workflows.
    • Monitor and validate vendor outputs to ensure accuracy, reliability, and alignment with business needs.
