We are seeking a Principal Business Manager to join our team. You will leverage deep expertise in data to build impactful reports, ensure data quality, and collaborate with analysts and engineers to develop secure, policy-aligned data solutions. It involves crafting clear, insightful presentations—such as dashboards and visualizations—that influence senior decision-makers and drive business outcomes. You will manage cross-functional initiatives, and clarity on complex, evolving business needs.

Responsibilities
Expertise in Data
- Establishes themselves as an expert in data types and sources relevant to business needs, and builds reports that serves others. Evaluates sufficiency of data for answering business questions between internal and external sources, and works to identify, anticipate, and address gaps and data quality issues with data providers. Drives action to source additional data as needed, and leverages relevant frameworks from other teams. Collaborates with data analysts and data engineers to build needed data pipelines or integrations to address business needs and develops and advises other analysts on ideal ways to present and discuss data to influence business stakeholders’ decision making. Leverages understanding of data governance to their work to ensure the solutions they and/or their teams produce have the right level of security applied (encryption, role restrictions) and are aligned with company policy.
Presentation of Results
- Develops presentations of analyses, including dashboards, reports, data visualizations, self-service platforms, slides, and talking points that synthesize insights into a story that influences senior stakeholders’ decision making and drives business outcomes. Actively supports efforts to improve efficiency of reporting and presentations, and guides others to ensure presented results are accessible, provide information accurately, clearly, and appropriately in a relevant and timely manner to influence decision making for intended audience(s).
Evaluation
- Determines preferred factors and/or data types/frameworks to include in the evaluation of business, product, and/or operational decisions that will provide the most relevant assessment of impact. Independently ensures that evaluations account for anticipated risks and applies learnings from previous evaluations. Proactively synthesizes and connects results across evaluation instances and identifies relevant connections to other work to make recommendations that drive achievement of strategic business goals.
Improvement, Efficiency, and Innovation
- Drives the implementation of methods that create efficiency in core work related to analytics and reporting that are reusable, readily discoverable, self-service, and directed to meaningful interpretation of data that drive business decisions and impact across teams. Determines and socializes optimal and innovative methods for standardizing, sharing, and scaling insights. Evaluates the viability of implementing automation including efficiency gains that leverage AI for patterns of ad hoc analyses or reporting into standard practices. Shares thought leadership in partnership with Engineering or Data Science teams to develop and implement automated methods for use in data collection and analysis that are most relevant to addressing business needs.
Special Projects/Programs and Initiatives
- Drives cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and to manage complex business needs. Leads project/program management to ensure organization-wide implementation of strategic efforts that require hands-on coordination across multiple disciplines and business organizations. Leads strategic innovation and experimentation. Creates clarity on ambiguous projects and develops plan for execution.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, and automation technologies like Power Automate.
- 4+ years of project management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 10+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
- OR Master’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 7+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
- OR equivalent experience.
- Skilled in managing and driving headcount strategy and resource alignment within fast-paced, matrixed technology organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying patterns, trends, and anomalies in data to generate actionable insights.
Business Management IC6 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 – $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 – $303,600 per year.
