Responsibilities
As an AI Product Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building and releasing production software at the product level. You will work on APIs, UIs, SDKs, and product surfaces that form the backbone of our AI products. Your expertise will help us create robust and scalable products that drive innovation and efficiency.
- Design, develop, and maintain product-level software solutions including UIs, APIs, SDKs, and other product surfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into various products across the Microsoft Copilot suite of products.
- Ensure the UI, APIs, and SDKs can support our customers reliably and can scale.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and engineering.
- Work alongside the technical staff and AI researchers to improve model development flows.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience building products that include APIs and web interfaces.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience with React JS (or equivalent).
- 4+ years of experience in building and deploying web-based tools or applications.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, AI research, and engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience building web products, APIs, and interfaces.
- OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience building web products, APIs, and interfaces.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Contributor to or maintainer of an open source product.
- Deep experience building developer-first products such as APIs
- 4+ years of experience with Next JS or other modern Typescript frameworks.
- Demonstrated understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Familiarity with data science and machine learning concepts, especially as they relate to model evaluation and data collection.
Software Engineering IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 – $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 – $294,000 per year.
