    • Help define and communicate MAI’s principles for AI‑generated content, including quality bars, safety considerations, and trust frameworks.
    • Partner closely with Product and Policy to ensure our external messaging reflects how the systems actually work, not aspirational abstractions.
    • Serve as a steward for clarity in areas where AI behavior, evaluation, or tradeoffs are non‑obvious.
  • Define audiences, formats, and ecosystems—globally
    • Own MAI’s audience and format narratives, including how different products and surfaces behave across regions and use cases.
    • Clearly explain how MAI audiences show up for publishers, creators, and sales teams, and how formats and inventory should be understood in context.
    • Ensure audience narratives are consistent, grounded in reality, and usable across GTM motions.
  • Partner deeply with Sales on positioning and revenue growth
    • Work with Sales to define new brand and product positioning, particularly for emerging monetization and ad products.
    • Translate product capabilities into sales‑ready narratives that support revenue growth without distorting product truth.
    • Act as a strategic thought partner to Sales leadership on how MAI offerings should be framed in market.
  • Shape MAI Content’s internal and external communications channels
    • Develop narratives for internal and external communication about our product strategy, roadmap and how it connects to the values of journalism and quality content.
    • Ensure consistency between our team and MAI / MSFT core narratives.
  • Be a connective tissue across MAI
    • Operate as a trusted cross‑functional partner spanning Product, Marketing, Monetization, Sales, Policy, Growth, and Leadership.
    • Identify gaps where product intent, market understanding, and execution are misaligned—and step in to close them.
    • Contribute to MAI‑level strategic documents, narratives, and leadership conversations.

Qualifications

    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Marketing, Product Strategy, or adjacent roles at scale.
  • Experience working on platforms, ecosystems, or AI‑driven products where behavior and outcomes are not always deterministic.
  • Proven ability to translate complex product or technical concepts into clear, persuasive narratives for senior stakeholders.
  • Solid judgment around trust, quality, and external commitments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with publishers, creators, or advertising‑adjacent ecosystems.

Overview

Our team (Signals Modeling) builds the core intelligence that understands and predicts how users interact with ads – from the first impression through clicks, post-click engagement, and downstream business outcomes.

We design and train transformer-based models with billions of parameters that power ad ranking, pricing, and optimization across large-scale consumer surfaces. These models go well beyond simple click prediction: they reason over long user histories, rich ad and content representations, and heterogeneous event streams to infer user intent and advertiser value, even when ground truth signals are sparse or partially unobservable.

The team owns end-to-end ML systems, including large-scale data and label construction, representation learning, multi-task and proxy objectives, calibration, and rigorous offline and online evaluation. We build sophisticated training pipelines that transform weak signals (e.g., page visits, dwell time, or engagement events) into high-quality learning targets, and deploy models that remain robust under delayed conversions and shifting marketplace dynamics.

Engineers and scientists on the team work at the intersection of deep learning, large-scale experimentation, and marketplace economics, shipping production-grade models and data pipelines that directly drive revenue and advertiser ROI. This is a hands-on role with real ownership: you’ll help shape next-generation transformer architectures, push the limits of scalable training and serving, and see your models make measurable impact in one of the world’s largest ads ecosystems.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

Responsibilities
  • Drive modeling and data innovations for ad interaction outcome prediction under partial and noisy feedback.
  • Focus on building estimated conversion models, designing data-driven attribution and weak-label generation pipelines, and developing robust learning and calibration methods for scenarios where true user outcomes are sparse, delayed, or unobservable.
  • Design and evaluate multi-task and proxy-signal models, improve offline and online measurement frameworks, and translate modeling advances into production-ready systems that directly impact ad ranking, bidding, advertiser ROI, and user experience at web scale.

Overview

Join Microsoft AI’s Copilot Discover Engineering Team as a Principal Software Engineer, serving as a senior technical architect to play a central role in the technical direction and long‑range architecture of Copilot Discover. This is a role emphasizing true end‑to‑end responsibility: setting the architectural vision, shaping the platform for AI‑forward discovery experiences, and steering the evolution of product experiences that sit at the heart of how users engage with the intersection of knowledge, content, and personalization on surfaces on which Copilot shows up.

You will design and drive the systems that power the Copilot Discover feed at scale. You’ll work on foundational platforms that ingest, enrich, rank, personalize, and serve content across web, mobile, and partner surfaces and lead architectural strategy for how we unify signals, models, and data into coherent, trustworthy experiences; modernize our ranking and personalization stack; and build the AI-forward infrastructure that makes Copilot Discover feel intelligent, anticipatory, and personalized for every user. The key is an end-to-end focus on outcomes, across a broad technical space.

You’ll be expected to influence platform direction across multiple teams and adjacent organizations. You will ensure that the MSN and Copilot Discover systems are robust, scalable, privacy‑respecting, and engineered for long-term adaptation. High product sense is a success factor – how you drive product and architectural convergence across today’s fragmented surfaces, reduce complexity, and shape a consistent platform model is key to the success of the product and this role.

Copilot Discover sits at the intersection of content, signals, and user intent. Our ambition is to make it a durable, strategic layer that powers intelligent, personalized, and trusted discovery experiences across a broad array of surfaces where Microsoft engages consumers in their journeys. If you are passionate about building high-scale, AI-driven systems that combine solid architectural rigor with meaningful user value, this is the role for you.

  • Raise the technical bar across the organization by establishing flasifible principles, reviewing critical designs, and helping to develop technical leaders within the team.
  • Establish and evolve quality and reliability standards, including test strategies, CI/CD practices, monitoring, alerting, and live-site health.
  • Shape the adoption of AI/ML techniques for content understanding, personalization, summarization, and safety, in close collaboration with MAI and partner teams.
  • Serve as a cross-org technical leader, aligning MSN architecture with Bing, Copilot, Ads, Privacy, Trust, and other Microsoft platforms.
