Microsoft AI is looking for a talented iOS engineer to help build the next wave of capabilities of our personalized AI assistant, Copilot. Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to,  Swift, Objective-C, or Java  OR equivalent experience 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Swift, Objective-C, or Java OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Swift, Objective-C, or Java OR equivalent experience. 
  • Contributions to open-source projects.  
  • Experience building iOS applications from scratch. 
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers. 
  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in mobile development and AI.

Software Engineering IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 – $258,000 per year.

About the Role: 

 

Microsoft AI is building the next generation of frontier models that power Copilot and other large-scale AI experiences. The Post-Training team is responsible for transforming powerful pretrained models into robust, aligned, and high-performing systems used by millions of people worldwide. 

Our work focuses on improving general quality, instruction following, coding and math ability, tool use, agentic behaviors, personality, and other critical model capabilities. We operate across the full post-training lifecycle — from data generation and curation, to evaluation and diagnostics, to reward modeling and reinforcement learning. 

We are a small, highly autonomous team that works closely with pre-training, product, and engineering partners to rapidly iterate on ideas, run large-scale experiments, and safely advance model capabilities. Each team member owns meaningful parts of the post-training pipeline and has direct access to the compute, data, and decision-making needed to move quickly from insight to production.

Responsibilities
  • Design evaluations of advanced model capabilities and use them to drive rapid, high-signal iteration loops

  • Build data flywheels to hill-climb on model weaknesses, using data from various surfaces where our models are deployed 

  • Ensure optimal quality, quantity and coverage of data across our post-training stages

  • Have deep experience with LLMs, either training them or applying them in production

  • Possess strong generalist engineering and mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams to define requirements for agentic AI-driven bidding capabilities that observe, reason, and adapt autonomously.Architect and implement the next-generation agentic bidding platform, enabling AI agents to monitor marketplace signals, interpret advertiser and user behavior, and continuously optimize bidding strategies.Build large-scale data validation and quality frameworks to ensure correctness, consistency, and reliability across all auction-critical signals feeding the AI agents.Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI): drive operational excellence, incident management, on-call readiness, and high-availability practices for mission-critical bidding services.Develop experimentation and simulation frameworks to validate agent behavior and optimize policies before deployment in live auctions.Proactively adopt new patterns, technologies, and engineering practices to improve availability, efficiency, performance, and scalability across the bidding stack.Set technical direction, mentor engineers, and foster a culture of high-quality execution, innovation, and accountability.Explore and invest in emerging AI techniques — multi-agent systems, adaptive optimization—to enhance the autonomy, intelligence, and impact of the bidding platform.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Preferred 

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale streaming platforms such as Apache Spark or Flink.
  • 4+ years of experience as a technical lead, including mentoring and guiding engineers.
  • 7+ years of experience developing and deploying large-scale distributed systems in production environments.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning operations (MLOps), including pipeline automation, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Domain knowledge and experience building large scale distributed bidding or auction platforms.
  • Experience building real world applications using AI techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build core platform services for scalable training and evaluation, including cluster orchestration, job scheduling, data and compute pipelines, and artifact management.
  • Standardize containerized workflows by maintaining Docker images, CI/CD, and runtime configurations; advocate for best practices in security, reproducibility, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement end-to-end observability and operations through metrics, tracing, logging, dashboard development, monitoring, and automated alerts for model training and platform health (using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
  • Architect and operate services on Azure cloud platforms, managing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Helm), secrets, networking, and storage.
  • Enhance developer experience by creating tools, CLIs, and portals that simplify job submission, metrics analysis, and experiment management for generalist software engineering and research teams.
  • Enforce security and compliance policies for data access, container hardening, and supply-chain integrity, and partner with security and privacy teams to maintain robust practices in multi-tenant environments and secret management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data, model, and product teams to align infrastructure roadmaps with training needs, evaluation protocols, and Copilot product goals.


Qualifications

Required qualifications 

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals building large‑scale, production systems
  • Hands‑on ownership of production infrastructure (not just usage)
  • Python used as a primary language in production systems
  • Kubernetes + containers: deploying, operating, and supporting production workloads
  • Experience building or operating platform services (job orchestration, data/compute pipelines, shared infra)
  • Production operations ownership: monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response
  • Experience on cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable)
  • Comfortable with distributed systems, networking, and storage

Desired qualifications 

  • Built or owned ML / AI platform infrastructure (training, evaluation, experiment pipelines)

Design and develop data pipelines that ingest enormous amounts of multi-modal training data (text, audio, images, video).
 
Own and maintain critical data infrastructures, including spark, ray, vector databases, and others.
Build and maintain cutting-edge infrastructure that can store and process the petabytes of data needed to power models.
Partner with the pretraining and post-training teams to improve our data recipe by rigorous and careful experimentation.

Starting January 26, 2026, MAI employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 50 miles (U.S.) or 25 miles (non-U.S., country-specific) of that location. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction. 



Responsibilities
  • Create high-quality datasets for training and evaluation; run experiments on new datasets (data ablations) to assess their impact and determine the most effective data.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines for text data ingestion, preprocessing, filtering, and annotation.
  • Analyze real-world text datasets to assess quality, diversity, relevance, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Build lightweight tools and workflows for dataset auditing, visualization, and versioning.
  • Collaborate with Safety, Ethics, and Governance teams to ensure datasets meet standards for quality, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
  • Embody our culture and values. 


Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Python and common data libraries (Pandas, NumPy, etc.)
    • OR equivalent experience.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Python and common data libraries (Pandas, NumPy, etc.)
    • OR Bachelor’s Degree in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or related technical discipline AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Python and common data libraries (Pandas, NumPy, etc.)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis or data engineering, including work with large-scale datasets that are unstructured or semi-structured.
  • Proficiency in statistics and exploratory data analysis methods.
  • Familiarity with data processing frameworks such as Spark, Ray, or Apache Beam.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to research and product teams. 


Software Engineering IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 – $258,000 per year.

Software Engineering IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 – $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 – $304,200 per year.
