Overview
As Microsoft continues to push the boundaries of AI, we are on the lookout for passionate individuals to work with us on the most interesting and challenging AI questions of our time. Our vision is bold and broad – to build systems that have true artificial intelligence across agents, applications, services, and infrastructure. It’s also inclusive: we aim to make AI accessible to all – consumers, businesses, developers – so that everyone can realize its benefits.
Microsoft AI (MAI) is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to help build Copilot memory and personalization – AI that remembers, evolves, and grows with each user. You’ll work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment to develop systems that deepen memory with every interaction, personalize experiences to reflect each user’s unique style and goals, and make interactions feel more like working with a trusted partner than using a tool.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Starting January 26, 2026, MAI employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 50 miles (U.S.) or 25 miles (non-U.S., country-specific) of that location. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
By applying to this role based in U.S. Mountain View, CA, you are required to be local to one of these areas and be in office 4 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Program Ownership & Execution: Drive end-to-end program management for Copilot Memory & Personalization initiatives, including planning, execution, risk tracking, and delivery.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with engineering, product, privacy/compliance, and design teams to align on program goals, milestones, and deliverables. Ensure dependencies are well-managed and blockers are removed quickly.
- Roadmap & Planning: Own program roadmaps for Memory and Personalization, ensuring priorities are clear, aligned with company goals, and sequenced for maximum impact. Lead cycle and release planning processes.
- Evaluation & Metrics: Define success criteria and evaluation frameworks in collaboration with engineering and data science. Track progress with dashboards and metrics (e.g., memory coverage, latency, compliance readiness).
- Privacy & Compliance Readiness: Partner closely with stakeholders to ensure all Memory & Personalization features meet regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., opt-out flows, data-type tagging, and DSA obligations).
- Process & Efficiency: Improve execution efficiency by driving consistent processes for experiment tracking, flighting, and quality evaluation across squads. Identify gaps and propose solutions.
Qualifications

Overview
Join Microsoft AI (MAI), the team behind Copilot, Bing, MSN, Microsoft Advertising, and Edge, as we build transformative AI experiences. We’re looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPgM) to lead initiatives focused on model response quality and broader program architecture, ensuring our AI systems deliver accurate, safe, and user-aligned outputs. You will also support cross-cutting efforts across Copilot, helping to design and scale operational frameworks. You will own the end-to-end model feedback process, including coordination across Research, Engineering, Data, and Product teams. You’ll drive improvements based on production usage, manage vendor relationships for human evaluation, and develop scalable feedback loops and infrastructure. While model response quality is the initial key focus, this role will architect and operationalize scalable systems from the ground up—designing durable frameworks, workflows, tooling and governance models —allowing the TPgM to contribute to broader programmatic efforts and evolving team needs.
MAI operates with the agility and intensity of a startup—fast-paced, iterative, and impact-driven. Success here requires a scrappy mindset: someone who thrives in ambiguity, takes initiative, and adapts quickly to shifting priorities. This role is ideal for a candidate who enjoys architecting solutions from the ground up, not just executing predefined tasks. If you’re energized by ownership, innovation, and building frameworks that influence product direction, you’ll feel right at home on our team.
Starting January 26, 2026, MAI employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 50 miles (U.S.) or 25 miles (non-U.S., country-specific) of that location. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Own the Model Feedback Lifecycle: Design and manage processes for collecting, triaging, and analyzing feedback from production usage. Build dashboards and reporting systems to surface insights and drive data-informed improvements to Copilot, addressing customer needs with high quality and efficiency. Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure successful outcomes.
- Cross-Team Coordination: Partner with Research, Engineering, Data, and Product teams to align on goals, identify opportunities for enhancing model performance, share learnings, and drive execution at scale.
- Vendor Management: Oversee external vendors for data labeling and human evaluation programs.
- Quality Frameworks: Build and run systems to assess and enhance model responses, such as annotation platforms and evaluation pipelines. Review performance metrics to find areas for improvement.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Collaborate with analytics teams to define success metrics and correlate improvements to user impact.
- Operational Excellence: Manage all components of project planning, execution, and delivery by developing consistent processes that accommodate product complexity and organizational growth, ensuring coordination with overall product strategy and deadlines.
- Strategic Program Architecture: Partner with other TPgMs and leadership to design scalable processes and frameworks that extend beyond model response quality, supporting evolving priorities across Copilot. Maintain a deep understanding of the latest advancements in AI and Machine Learning.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- 2+ year(s) of experience leading AI-focused products or programs with direct involvement in model evaluation strategies (Evals), optimization through loss function analysis (Losses), or overseeing data collection pipelines to support scalable training and validation workflows (Data Collection).
- 2+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
Additional or preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- Prior exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs), model evaluation, or human-in-the-loop systems.
- Experience working in a startup-like environment.
