We are seeking a Sales Excellence Manager who is passionate about combining strategic planning, analytical acumen, and tactical execution to maximize the effectiveness of our Small & Medium Business (SMB) Advertising Sales team.

 

In this role, you will be a trusted advisor to both the General Manager and Operations Leader of SMB Sales and will need to understand all aspects of their business, including the industry and competitive landscape in their verticals, the playbook for winning market and mindshare, and the resources needed to drive this plan. This role enables Sales with programs, tools, processes, and insights as a competitive differentiator and driver of growth. This opportunity will allow you to balance leading, doing, and influencing, in close partnership with a matrixed partner set. This is a unique position from which to drive thought-leadership, connection, and executional excellence to our key stakeholders. Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. Responsibilities
  • Business Partnership and Enablement
    • Drives sales growth through business and portfolio planning. Analyzes the market outlook and leverages business insights that benchmark performance and makes suggestions on current and future actions based on key drivers, opportunities, and/or risks. Supports the integration, alignment, and execution of the actions defined in plans.
  • Enables Sales Motion Strategy
    • Enables sales teams to execute on strategies for opportunity management (e.g., up-sell, cross-sell, renewal, recapture). Contributes to operationalizing prioritized sales plans and industry solutions. Identifies opportunities to generate new business and accelerate the closing of existing opportunities.
  • Sales Coaching for Growth and Success
    • Coaches and builds relationships with sales team on executing key priorities. Engages sales managers to become more effective coaches to front-line sellers. Helps sales team achieve increased individual and team knowledge, sales capability, and collaborative selling efforts.
    • Also contributes to optimizing sales team processes and utilization of sales tools and reporting.
  • Leverages Insights & Reporting
    • Contributes to analytics on key revenue drivers (e.g., by vertical/product/geo). Leverages reporting and analytical capabilities to generate data-based insights and enable visibility into revenue and forecast for sellers, sales managers, leaders, and partners.
  • Driving Sales Process Discipline
    • Instills process discipline, consistency, adherence to standards and excellence in execution, and shares best practices within their team.
    • Holds sales managers accountable for account plan quality, completeness, and pipeline health.
  • Extending Executive Capacity
    • Represents as an internal advocate and an extension of Sales leadership. Advises on and contributes to various aspects of business management (e.g., employee engagement, resource allocation, change management, building high-performing teams) in collaboration with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Program Management
    • Leads and/or participates in the design, build, launch and run of global strategic programs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience in sales, sales operations/management, account management, program management, business development, marketing, consulting, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience using data to drive business outcomes or inform business decisions.
  • 3+ years of experience managing relationships with stakeholders, clients, and/or customers.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years managing projects, including planning, managing timelines, and tracking progress, and/or change management experience.
  • Solid understanding of the online advertising ecosystem.
  • 4+ years managing programs across a matrixed stakeholder set, including planning, managing timelines, tracking progress, and change management experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with data-based storytelling that has impacted organizational strategy.
  • 4+ years of experience in strategic business planning, including market analysis, resource modeling, and service level definition.
  • 3+ years of experience developing incentive or performance acceleration programs with measurable uplift in key metrics.

Sales Excellence IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 – $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 – $222,600 per year.

Responsibilities
  • Develop Influential Analytics: You will be the industry expert and thought leader and apply a consultative approach to provide expert guidance as well as leverage your comprehensive client knowledge to deliver credible and trustworthy analytics that influence decision makers by positioning compelling opportunities within the context of the MSA value proposition to create demand and evangelize what MSA has to offer.
  • Partner Enablement Program Management:  Manages several vendor consultants who are creating foundational insights to help scale insights to an ecosystem of managed partners and clients. Every half is responsible for surveying insights needs and developing a road map for Scaled Insights team.
  • Data Analysis:  You will execute complex analyses to resolve analytical challenges, interpret results within a client context and drive forward opportunities with actionable recommendations and be adept at connecting insights with the unique capabilities of Microsoft Advertising products to address client needs.
  • Small Medium Business Insights Enablement:  Work directly with Delivery Partners & Advocates to share Scaled Insights deliverables at scale to our SMBs.  Measure the success each month and apply a growth mindset for future opportunities.
  • Improvement, Efficiency, and Innovation: You will drive the implementation of methods that create systematic and scalable efficiencies in core work related to analytics and reporting that are reusable and work with tooling PMs to enable scalable efficiencies, readily discoverable insights and self-service that are directed towards meaningful interpretation of data that drives impactful business decisions across teams.
  • Collaboration:  You will leverage working relationships within and across internal and client teams to ensure data sources, methodologies and models are high-quality, that analytical tools and processes are appropriately leveraged and that recommendations to clients are data-driven and industry-relevant to consistently drive positive impact as you proactively engage internal and external stakeholders to identify and act on opportunities to leverage resources and solutions that were instrumental to success in similar contexts and consults across industry verticals and client teams on decisions related to analyses and their interpretation.
  • Security:  You will maintain expertise in data privacy and governance rules and regulations, know where to seek expertise on such rules and regulations and share personal knowledge of them with peers as needed and identify and address the impact of updated guidance on work activities and results and ensure work activities and results are delivered in alignment with principles and controls.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience in statistics, mathematics, analytics, data science, engineering, computer science, marketing, business, data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, business and financial analysis, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience using tools such as PowerBI/Tableau, DAX, R, SQL for data manipulation and visualization on large datasets.
  • 5+ years experience in relevant technical domain (e.g., cloud services, security), technical sales, marketing, product management, customer support, or cross-group/cross-functional engineering
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Dynamic and creative critical thinking skills, with an ability to think outside of the box.
  • Solid ability to communicate complex analyses to a mix of both technical and non-technical partners and clients.
  • Experience managing vendors or consultants who produce insights and sharing at scale.
  • Experience in ad domain experience, scaling projects and data management.
  • Experience project managing a calendar for four consultants for over 100+ of insights every six months.
  • Experience utilizing analytical tools to turn massive, dynamic datasets into actionable insights.
  • Comfort and enjoyment with working in ambiguous environments.
  • Solid communication skills to work with partners in various areas of Microsoft Advertising.
  • Experience pairing data visualization with storytelling to deliver persuasive presentations that influence varying audience levels.
  • Experience conducting, interpreting, and clearly communicating measurement analyses (e.g., incrementality, attribution, lift studies) to inform client decisions.
  • Experience and proficiency using PowerBI/Tableau, DAX, SQL for data manipulation and visualization. 
  • Working knowledge of statistics, predictive modeling and data clustering/classification techniques.
  • Infectious sense of enthusiasm, fun, and imagination to contribute to high-performing team culture.
  • Comfort working in an agile and constantly-evolving environment while thriving amid ambiguity.
  • Ability to travel 25% – 35% (air travel may be required), as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years experience in statistics, mathematics, analytics, data science, engineering, computer science, marketing, business, data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, business and financial analysis, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience using tools such as PowerBI/Tableau, DAX, SQL for data manipulation and visualization on large datasets.
  • 6+ years in a partner or account management/client service/client-facing role.
  • 6+ years in a data analysis role with programming experience.
  • 5+ years of data storytelling and insights creation experience.
  • Experience working with Small Medium Businesses.
  • Experience with scaling insights to many clients.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity in a combination of the following data manipulation and visualization tools: Python, R, PowerPivot, Microsoft Advertising API.

Responsibilities
  • Own revenue delivery and customer success for Microsoft Advertising’s SMB business in the United States, consistently surpassing quota and driving durable, highquality growth. 
  • Set the strategic direction for US SMB by proactively identifying emerging market opportunities and trends and developing and executing effective territory and market plans; orchestrate crossfunctional alignment and enforce operational accountability with internal teams and delivery partners. 
  • Design and scale impactful US sales plays and contribute to global sales play development; ensure rapid adoption and measurable business impact across all seller and partner motions. Scale US incubated programs to global markets. Partner closely with SMB Sales counterparts in International markets and Corporate Sales Management to share best practices and maximize short-term segment performance. 
  • Lead US planning and investment strategy, bringing datadriven recommendations, market insight, and best practices to inform headcount, partner footprint, and growth opportunities.  
  • Steward of the Business; Lead the US SMB rhythm of business, ensuring worldclass sales rigor, disciplined pipeline management and operational excellence; ensure every decision and customer engagement complies with Microsoft’s values, culture, and Trust code.  
  • Serve as the senior SMB Sales Leader for the US territory, accountable for setting and reinforcing performance expectations, assessing the effectiveness of sales mechanics and approaches, and providing clear, vocal feedback to influence execution quality across Agency and Direct Advertiser sales motions. While the role includes evaluating Delivery Partner capabilities, the Sales Leader collaborates closely with Enablement and Learning & Development partners—leveraging their expertise and deferring to them on programmatic changes or skillbuilding recommendations.

  • Own critical escalations, drive customer satisfaction and retention, and develop activation and recovery plans that safeguard revenue and deepen relationships.

  • Champion the voice of the SMB customer and agency ecosystem, synthesizing regional insights to influence Microsoft Advertising and Microsoft AI Product teams on roadmap priorities, platform improvements, and GTM strategy. 
  • Accelerate demand generation by supporting comarketing initiatives and integration partnerships that drive highvolume lead generation, acquisition, and funnel growth for Microsoft Advertising. Develop a close partnership with global SMB Acquisition and Lifecycle Marketing partners to maximize US market acquisition outcomes.   


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years relevant Sales or Marketing experience with Information Technology products and/or services OR equivalent experience. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Economics, Engineering or related field AND 10+ years relevant Sales or Marketing experience with Information Technology products and/or services
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years relevant digital advertising sales experience.
  • 4+ years working in a large, global matrix.
  • 3+ years of experience in strategy and execution of SMB scaled marketing and sales plays.

SMB Sales IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,000 – $222,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $170,300 – $239,800 per year.
