Program Management

At Microsoft AI, we build the frontier models, from pre-training to post-training. Our Technical Program Managers are deeply embedded into the frontier research teams, driving model training, evaluation and launches.
As a Frontier Model Development TPM, you'll work alongside the Research Leads on model strategy, research prioritization, compute allocation and day-to-day research execution.
The right candidate is technical enough to go deep with Researchers, and rigorous enough in their work to keep complex, fast-moving programs on track.

What You'll Do

  • Own execution across the model lifecycle, from training and evaluation to launch readiness.
  • Turn research goals into clear plans, milestones and success metrics.
  • Reason through trade-offs in data, evaluation methodology and model quality.
  • Build the systems, tooling and decision mechanisms that turn research into models, often from scratch.
  • Help teams move faster by removing friction, not adding process.
  • Act as the connective tissue between research, engineering, product and safety, keeping dependencies aligned as priorities shift.
  • Surface risks to leadership early, and turn technical choices into clear recommendations.

What You'll Bring

  • A background in AI/ML research or engineering, and a record of staying hands-on as you moved into program leadership.
  • Deep experience with state-of-the-art LLM development.
  • A proven record leading large technical programs end to end in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
  • The ability to ramp quickly on new domains.
  • A track record of influencing senior research and engineering leaders and setting direction across teams.
